Fillings

Cavities may be detected on x-rays or identified in the mouth during an examination. The decayed and weakened portion of the tooth is removed as conservatively as possible and a filling is placed. We place silver and white fillings depending on patient preference and what is best for each tooth.

Silver Fillings

Silver or amalgam fillings can be used in non-esthetic areas. They work well on back teeth that are difficult to isolate, and are very durable.

White Fillings

White or composite fillings work well when they are small in size and in esthetic areas.

Bridges

A bridge is a special dental appliance meant to replace one or more missing teeth. Instead of implanting the artificial tooth or teeth into the jaw, the artificial teeth are secured to the natural teeth on either side of the missing teeth.

In order to hold the bridge properly, the teeth adjacent to the space have to be appropriately prepared. The dentist will remove the enamel from these teeth to make space for special crowns which are called abutments. The abutments are attached to either side of the artificial teeth. Once the natural teeth have been prepared, the abutments are cemented down over top of them, securing the bridge in place.
